Coaching Career

Since I entered the teaching profession I've been coaching in some capacity continuously for over 22 years. My coaching/teaching career started in Compton, California and now remains proudly rooted at Bishop O'Dowd here in Oakland. This journey includes coaching basketball at both the Middle School level (club and school) and High School level (club and varsity) as well as coaching other sports (flag football, baseball, softball and track) throughout this time. In addition to coaching, I've also been a private trainer focusing primarily on basketball skills and game development.

Why O'Dowd?

For me, O'Dowd has been, and continues to be, an amazing community that is focused on empowering young people. Every year is a unique opportunity to work with a fantastic group of players dedicated to improving themselves on and off the court. Seeing this growth amongst my players is always inspirational. Additionally, there's a special pride that comes with representing the Black and Gold of the Dragons and as a result, O'Dowd has truly become a "home away from home" for myself and in turn my own kids. All of this has essentially allowed the creation of a family culture within the program and that's what high school coaching and sports should be all about.
